Lee has a passion for making stories come to life. He has worked on Faith like Potatoes, Hansie and more recently directed the photography on Tornado, (with director Regardt van den Berg). He has had two Emmy nominations. His journey has taken him to over 100 countries, from Afghanistan to Hong Kong, but the focus has always been the same, “to make good film”. Born in 1970 in Johannesburg, he grew up in Kwa-Zulu Natal in a family that had been involved in film for three generations. His own career started at the bottom. He was a runner and a general dog’s body. His persistent desire to be closer to the camera got him his first break in London in the late 1990’s, working for the infamous Live TV. With this experience under his belt he returned to South Africa in 1999 and started working on various local and international television and drama series, including: National Geographic, Mark Burnett, Discovery, CBS, Touchstone Pictures, ABC, Disney Entertainment, Fox, BBC, and Channel 4. Then came the HD era, this is where he started as a Director of Photography in the world of commercials, doing work for a variety of brands: KFC, Smarties, Clorets, Outsurance, Jet and the Labour Department. However, knowing that narrating stories was his passion, Lee was always looking out for the opportunity to do feature films. The opportunity came with Faith like Potatoes, a movie about miracles; it marked the beginning of a new chapter.
