ABOUT JOANIE COMBRINK

Joanie Combrink started her professional acting career in 1981 after graduating from the University of Stellenbosch, playing the lead in a television series called “Gazette” opposite Regardt van den Bergh. After working as a freelance artist for 8 years in Johannesburg and after starring in more than a dozen television series, she and her family moved to Cape Town in 1989. Here, she worked as a language dubbing director and played lead roles in the SABC productions “Manakwalanners 1 en 2” produced by Johan van Jaarsveld and directed by Koos Roets.

Since the early 90’s Joanie mostly worked in the theatre. She was part of Keedo Children’s theatre en played in the three hander “Susanna die Geliefde”, directed by Juanita Swanepoel.

After that follwed “Woestynblom”, once again with Koos Roets directing. Theatre productons like “Drafstap of Drentel”, “Dalk is ons almal so”, “Lief-Lief deur Afrikaans”, “Die Uurwerk Kantel”, “Yerma”, “Want kyk die Bruidegom is hier”, followed, all directed by Juanita Swanepoel. She also appeared in “Eet Alles” direc ted by Francois Toerien. During this time she also starred in the television series “Soutmansland” directed by Gerrit Schoonhoven and “Death in the Family” which Annie Basson directed.

After 2000 the tv comedy series “Oepse Daisy” followed with Elizabeth Archer directing. Through this time Joanie apeared in radio dramas and serials. She also played a leading role in the theatre production “Bestemmings” which is a dramatized program of Marita van der Vyfer’s work. Joanie recently appeared in the SABC2 television series “Malan en Kie” and she is directing radio drama for the SABC at their Sea Point studios in Cape Town.
