ABOUT AQUAVISION

Aquavision TV Productions is the largest wildlife production company in South Africa. Internationally recognized for our skill in filming extraordinary animal behaviour both underwater and in the wild African bush, we create award-winning wildlife documentaries.

We have been producing blue chip films for the past 18 years and working in High Definition (HD) for the past six. We now have the largest stock footage library in Africa with over 1 700 hours of HD and 3 000 hours of Digital Betacam footage. National Geographic and Animal Planet are among our key clients.

We own over 54 completed wildlife titles amounting to more than 117 hours of completed programming. On average, we deliver around eight HD hours to Animal Planet, Discovery Networks and National Geographic per year. We produce a number of series from our library on a continuous basis, re-version content and dub programmes into other languages. We have more than 34 titles in development.

Aquavision produced its first full-length feature film earlier this year. Due for South African release on 10th April 2009, Tornado is the heart warming true story of a man and a horse. Both broken and dispirited, the story is one of healing and belief set against the beauty of the harsh Kalahari Desert.

Now the Aquavision team have begun a new journey with Caught on Safari: Live. It will be filmed on location in the pristine wilderness of the Kruger National Park and together with National Geographic Channel (Nat Geo Wild), viewers will journey into the Bush – live on camera. Filming live from a global platform is an international first – even for National Geographic.

We currently have three spectacular films in the wildlife documentary genre as well as the remarkable Caught in the Act series. Caught in the Act Episodes 1, 2 and 3 display some of wildlife's most remarkable moments caught on film by lucky amateurs and patient professionals! Aquavision has been scouting South Africa for prize footage of rarely witnessed, unusual or impressive animal behaviour.

Bonecrusher Queen (1 hour) is a new film depicting the infamous Spotted Hyena in a very different light and is set to change our perceptions of this remarkable animal.

Dolphin Army (1 hour) has extraordinary footage. Three years were required to film the remarkable sequences. Using the latest underwater technology, viewers get a fish eye view of the Common Dolphin as they participate in the greatest feeding phenomenon in the oceans - the legendary Sardine Run.

White Lions of Timbavati (1 hour) is the story of the mythical White Lions of Africa. Fraught with challenges and controversy, and set against a backdrop of cultural mythology, conflict and greed, this is the story of one lioness’ journey back to freedom.

Our crews have filmed in most national parks, wildlife reserves and private game parks in southern and central Africa, capturing the continents’ wildlife, culture and environment. The films cover a wide diversity of species and explore some of the most beautiful and remote places in Africa.

Aquavision employs a team of more than 40 dedicated permanent personnel. A strong pool of freelance staff provides additional artisans and content specialists when required. The company has a strong infrastructure and owns HD editing and camera equipment. This includes specialist underwater camera housings; high speed, slow motion and night vision equipment. We use both Final Cut Pro 6 and Avid Editing Suites.

Aquavision has excellent working relations with many national parks, private game reserves and conservation organizations; allowing privileged access to areas ordinarily closed to film crews. Our proximity to Africa’s wildlife areas allows camera crews to film unique sequences at any time of year.

Aquavision uses state of the art technology and as a result is a hub of local industrial activity. The talent of our camera and editing teams draws both local and international experts eager to share their skills and offer exceptional input into local industry.

Aquavision, renowned for its blue chip wildlife documentaries destined for the international market, is the most prolific production company in terms of international distribution from South Africa. Always focused on producing even more high calibre films, Aquavision will continue to achieve higher goals than ever before.
